I just took a look at your website bwaslo, now i understand why you're ripping Windows Vista. :green:

Cheers,
Robin

Yeah, it’s called an agenda.

To my ears Vista sounds better but you know XP sounds fine to me too with the USB sound devices I’ve used. Good luck to you bwaslo, enjoy.

Just a small update, I've been using Windows 7 for a week now. I decided to install it on all my PCs in the house! I'm still discovering some of the cool features of this new OS! The user friendly controls are terrific!! I installed Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my main HTPC. So far so good...I ordered 4 more GB's of RAM to bring the system up to 6 GB's. The Media player has been streamed line and offers more options and usability. I downloaded the K lite codec pack to make it even more versatile.

Sharing files with the other PCs in the house is much simpler. You just enter a shared password to make them apart of the same Home group and that's it. The OS does the rest for you. Setting up wireless connections is a snap..no 3 rd party controller needed..only the drivers.

The OS will automatically check your video setting, optimize and retrieve the proper drivers.

The new ISO image burning software works very well. It took me a few tries to get it to recognize my DVD burner ..after the 2nd or 3 rd time the OS figures it out and remembers all by itself.

It seems as though Windows is trying to cut down on as many 3rd party apps as possible. I find I do not need to download as much software because the system has its own version that works better. For example I used Firefox exclusively. I now find the newest Internet Explore to be more user friendly and customizable. BYE BYE Windows XP and Vista

I'm officially a Windows 7 man now!!!!! :thumb: Well almost.. I'll be totally official when they release the Retail version...my Beta copies should last till then.

Just remember, it's not a bug, it's a feature!

Yeah that's what they say.
No real issues as yet. This OS really flies!! Can't wait to drop the extra ram in. The new tool bar at the bottom of the screen is a nice feature. The virtual keyboard is also very cool! 8)

Here are the instructions for getting your key and the download http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/01/10/psstheres-how-to-get-your-windows-7-beta-key. It will last till August. By then you can buy a retail key.

Here's a link to what you need http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx. It isn't a system hog so you don't need monster memory or processor to use it..even though the more the better. My laptop runs faster with Windows 7 than Windows XP. Most people should be just fine. From what I've read the release date should be this summer. Most likely before the keys are set to expire.

Thanks for the link!  I didn't know anyone could try the beta version...I thought your were a hand picked specimen there GHM
shows me how much I go to windows.com

This is important to me as I need to install my Quick Books 2009. But, it runs on xp and I am using 2000pro with single core, 1 GB ram.  Not enough for Vista but looks ok for 7.  A ram upgrade would be easy enough which I will probably do my self.  I use a local computer shop that built my work computer and he aint cheep.  But, he is there and quick when I need him.

I too run XP on my laptop with Quick Books for my business, I'm tempted to try 7 but the advice Microsoft give on the link is not to install it on a critical computer.  This makes me a little cautious about going down this path.  I'll try it on a spare PC first, the issue then is how much for the upgrade when you need a license key?  The XP to Vista upgrade cost is not trivial.

..no not quite a hand picked specimen . If you count me as one of the 30 million that have downloaded it or downloading it now..then yeah! :D
Too bad you're no closer. Between me, my brother and a good friend we could build you a PC..with the cost being only the parts. The best and cheapest place to get your ram is Newegg.com.. I got 2X 2 GB sticks for $15.00 a piece. I'll go back maybe later during the year and buy 2 more for a total of 8Gbs of memory.

Yup that is why I tried it out on my laptop first. After no issues to speak of..I knew I was ready to drop it on the main two used. I've had to change a few of my drivers/ software over to 64 bit, other than that...it runs like a champ!! Jump in with both feet..you won't be sorry!
