Here's an idea:

what about a combo speaker in a "t" fashion. The horizontal part will look like what you have and the vertical would be the lower part of the rm-40 or something like this. This way you would have horizontal dispersion for the dialouge for the home theater part and vertical array for the music . The height of the tweeters would have to be the same for the l r c part.

Would the sound waves cross each other out is my question??

Sorry about spelling I am trying to type fast before my dsl SBC line goes out again.

OK John,

Now let's see a picture with the ribbons towards the bottom of the cabinet and the FST on top of the ribbons instead of between them.  This would make the speaker even less wide.

In fact maybe even have the Elixir pod for the FST on top of the cabinet, or is that asking for too much?

Well, I'm not a speaker designer (obviously) but I'm not sure the ribbons would work well out of alignment like that?????

Doesn't that introduce some phasing and lobing problems?

Oh well it looks good in Photo Shop

Hey, this is my spkr!  I wish I could see the photos. Anyway, the reason we must limit the lowbass cutoff is to increase the sensitivity & output while keeping the current LRC dimensions.

The classic spkr trade-offs remain: size vs. lowbass cutoff vs. sensitivity (sens = dB, efficiency = percent, remember that!).  Use the LSW for bass.  Increased sensitivity + same lowbass cutoff = cabinet too large.

THE PERFECT CENTER SPEAKER: current LRC size + increased output + increased sensitivity + lower THD + higher bass cutoff (mid 50Hz) =

(4) 5.25s + (2 or 3) Neo mids + HET = Super High Output Ribbon Center Speaker = SHORCS.

Hammer(head, pun intended) it home to Big B soon & often.  I want it now.  I don't care if MSRP is close to $2k.  Our RM40s require some serious heat in the center.  Who'd of thunk years ago of someone requesting Brian to create a speaker with a higher bass cutoff?

measuring my LRC...if the porting was changed to rear...another NEO
could easily be accomodated...mounted vertically...2 Neos flanking
FST.  (Not accounting for internal sub-enclosures) I'll buy!!  AND a 3ch
Ampzilla/5.1 analog pre w/TriP.   :D
