Anyone tried using "Silly Putty" to clean a record?

I just ordered a pound of it in bulk. When I try it out I'll post my results.

Hey!

   Seriously?

I'm afraid that it will leave some residue on the LPs

Anyway, let me know how it turn out for you. :D

Take care,

After you use the silly putty to clean off stubborn "cling-ons", use some diluted isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the grooves with a very nice soft cotton towel. this should remove any residue left by the putty.

Does a microfiber cloth work well?

I have a couple of records that have single skips. I was pretty good with record care throughout my life but maybe something got on 'em along the way. Nothing visible...

I used Vinylzime (I had a bottle hidden away after all) and the skip is still there.
I have some alcohol based cleaners, also.
Wondering if silly putty would work.

I heard regular silly putty is about as good as the 70 dollar clear bubble (Onzow?) for cleaning the stylus, too.

I have a favorite album with a skip in one spot. I don't have anything to see small enough to have a look-see, just as you orthobiz. Is it a piece of shiet in the groove, is it damage to the wall, I just don't know. There is no scratch there either. The stylus hits it and then.......skip. Maybe I'll try some silly putty.

Once dirty do you just rinse the Silly Putty off and stow till your next cleaning session?
