Any experience with Supra speaker cables?

Has anybody had experience with the Supra Ply 3.4 speaker cables?

This is a current ad for them on Audiogon: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?cablspkr&1227129325&/Supra-Cables-Ply-3.4--3m-pair-

I really need a very slightly longer pair of cables than my current Bolder m-80s, and the price on these looks right: they're even cheaper than unterminated anti-cables!  I seem genetically incapable of making standard spades or banana plugs work properly, so my intention is to opt for unterminated cables anyway.

Other options in the price range: anti-cables, signal cable, blue jeans cables and art audio cables.  Supra also makes the Ply 2 which is even cheaper, but is 14 gauge rather than 12.  Any stories, good or bad, would be welcomed.

Chad,
I don't have allot of experience with them but I've heard them and thought they sounded pretty darn good, especially considering the price. They're not Anaconda type speaker cables(which is a good thing IMHO) and are quite manageable/easy to use. Honestly I don't think you could wrong for that price!  :thumb:

Thanks John.  I appreciate the input, especially considering your own line of work.  Of course, if all the glowing reports are to be believed, you won't ever have to worry about competition from cheap cables.  I'll look forward to the time when I can experiment with your creations.

Cheers.

Another inexpensive speaker cable I can heartily recommend is Furutech FS502 @ $5 a foot. I've been listening to this cable for a couple of months now and it is silly good for the price. It does have the Furutech house sound, which is very open, neutral, and not rolled off in the treble. Not to say it's "zippy," harsh, or unbalanced. It's just not euphonically mellow. Compared to Analysis Plus Oval 9 and Kimber 4tc, it sounds a little more lively. I had a $900 pair of Sonoran Plateau Deserts in the system before these and I'm not feeling let down with the substitution. (The Sonorans were worrisomely heavy for the lightweight Eichmann Speaker Pods connectors on my amp.) Like the Supra Ply 3.4s, they have a shield. I use them with the screen disconnected at the speaker end and the amp end is connected with a ground wire to earth. Very quiet background used in this way. This is the way the TNT-Audio reviewer used the Supra Ply 3.4s cables as I recall.

any chance you are going to RMAF08? They will be there and will have the cable there for review. They are good people to work with and have a lot of great cables to choose from. I auditioned the Swords last year (very revealing!). I also own a couple of sets of anti-cables, which I like a lot.

It seems to me that they offer a return policy as well. Perhaps you can score a set and try them out before committing.

I've owned a number of Supra cables for years.  I have found them the best bang for the buck of any that i have tried.  very, very neutral.  i swapped out thousands of dollars for their interconnects and have not looked back---they are also the 1 manufacturer (off the top of my head) that makes their own balanced connectors and doesn't rely on neutrik.

have not tried the Sword, as it is much more pricy than the EFF line ICs although friends have had them and love them for the money (compared to TOL Kimber, Cardas, etc).   i wouldn't hesitate to try the lower lines though.   i currently uses Audioquest Rocket cables (Slate replacement)....speaker cables to me don't do much, and they were the right price locally.
