« on: 23 Jun 2008, 08:48 pm »
Ive got a new PC hooked up to my cpu/monitor for burn in.  Any idea what would be a decent amount of time before I give it a whirl?  Im guessing a week but not quite sure.  thanks in advance

Leave the component powered up. Listen in 2/5/10/15/20/30 days. Take notes. By 30 days it should be settled in. This is what my PC manufacturer suggested. Your PC could respond differently.

Depends....teflon dielectric takes the most time...varying differences in grades of teflon dieletrics take different time to settle in.

Poly and cotton take nearly zero time I've found.

I don't think it's the wire breaking in too much at all (perhaps a bit - less than 24 hours), it's the interaction between dialectric and wiring that takes all the time up.  The thinner the dialectric (a la magnet wire and even Alpha-Core cables), the less break-in time needed.
