You guys are more than welcome to come by Saturday, April 12 around 2PM

Cool. I read that too fast last night. I thought you meant Saturday TODAY, and was dissappointed that I can't make it.
But Saturday the 12th, should be good.

In the mean time, I'll just watching it go round and round...... With nothing on the platter. :(

Cool! It'll be good to finally meet you.

I'll have a turntable, cheap solid state phono-pre, 2 carts, a new headshell (hopefully, if U.S.P.S. is fast enough) and a $.50 sacrificial LP to "let the smoke out of" for the first trial run. This table of mine has a couple bugs in it, hopefully can get them worked out this weekend.

Scott, Steve, anybody....Is there anything else I need to bring?

Glad you guys can make it. Tell you what, Bob, we'll have Scott set my cart up first and make sure it's working OK. I'd like to do a before and after listen just to hear the difference in my carts.

Then Scott can setup your carts on the pool table and then we can hookup your TT through my system. No need to bring a phono pre--we'll just use mine. BTW, what carts are you bringing?

See you Saturday around 2. I can't make this a long gig though, I'm taking the wife out to dinner that night.

Also, PM me if you guys need directions.

Hi Steve,
Oh Yea, Yours is most definitely first in the operating room. Heck, it's your house afterall, we are the ones invading it.

Regarding the carts, I've got a Shure M91E and an Ortofon (can't remember model #).

Understood about the time frame Steve. No problem.
I'll PM you for directions.

Hey Bob, you've got the AR XA table with the original AR arm (like the one in Wayners post) right? I just want to make sure I bring the right manual for the table and arm you are using.

If its easier, give me a buzz this evening.

Sounds like a fun and educational time. Wish I could make it. My daughter has her 1st Communion and birthday this weekend.
Maybe next time.

"I know I have started another thread about LP recommendations. But specifically, if you 're aware of where I can pick up some of these "direct-from-master-analog-recorded vinyls" - do share on this forum.

http://store.acousticsounds.com/  comes to mind along with mofi.com. I always liked mofi LPs, although acoustic Sounds has all kinds of well reviewed stuff.

If you haven't, try some 45rpm vinyl!

Have you found other places for vinyl?

How did everything turn out? It was great to watch Scott do his magic on the tables setting them up.  I went home spun some vinyl in honor of the table setting up party.

So; SteveK how is the OC-9 sounding today?  How is the K&K transformer?  That's a very cool vinyl front end you just put into the system.  Let everybody know how it's coming along.

Bob; did the AR come back to life?  That old table is so cool. It's in surprisingly good shape for anything its age.  It'll be fun hearing how the vinyl bug progresses through your system.

I've changed it's name from AR-XA to "Hummy".
It is unplayable at this point in time.  :|

Bad news :x  Time for a disassemble and fix.  That old table has to come back to life.  Let me know if you need any help tearing it apart or just some moral support when you crack the case.

That's too bad, Bob. It was sounding pretty sweet at my place. Could be you just need to trash those IC"s and solder some nicer ones on. Hum is usually a ground problem.

As for the OC-9, I was up pretty late spinning big black round things. Even got Barb to listen for an hour or so. She could definitely hear a difference--that's always the acid test. I lowered the VTA as Dr. Faller recommended and it really brought out the bass more--put on a Ray Brown album and wow! The K&K is working fine--I have plenty of gain--volume setting is about the same as the digital end. I'm still playing around with different loading resistors. I've tried 60 and 40 ohms. I"ve ordered another pair to try the 20 ohm load recommended by AT. It's a lot of fun.

Thanks again to Scott for putting this thing together. I no longer have the eyesight or a steady enough hand to try that. No way. :o

The flute CD sounds pretty good btw. You may want to pursue that as a second career.
