I am stationed at a U.S. military base in Japan and will be coming to San Diego (North Island) during the first week of March for some Temporary Duty. I am planning to build a phono preamp from Colin Electronics (www.colinelectronics.com) and I need to purchase some parts for the project. I need to find a source for some 6-32 threaded metal standoff spacers to mount the PCB in the chassis along with the screws and washers to go along with them. I also need to buy some 22 gauge hook-up wire. Any good electronic parts stores in the area?

One suggestion..............order them on-line from Mouser or Digi-key. Ok, you would have to buy a bag of 100, and pay shipping. But on the plus side, you could have them waiting there for you.

Expect to pay a quarter apiece for stand-offs.

An alternative......although somewhat hit-or-miss........hardwares stores sometimes have stand-offs in those plastic pull-out trays in the hardware section. At least here they do. The trick is to find a hardware store these days.

Good luck.

Hi Mark,

When doing my DIY stuffs I do not need any standoff spacers. I just go to Home Depot or OSH and buy a bag of 6-32 shorter or longer than 1" brass screws, washes and nuts to use for holding tight the pcb to the enclosure box.
