Sig 30 Help- The Agony and XTC
« on: 3 Sep 2006, 02:15 pm »
Hi All

After waiting for a while my Sig 30 (omega edition) landed over this holiday weekend.  The left speaker output is significantly lower then the right.  I have confirmed this by switching left and right speaker cables.  The other odd thing is that the left speaker posts seem to be reversed. E.g. The black ground post is on the outside. This is contrary to the pics on the RWA site and the instx manual.   I have also tried to switch the red black leads on the subject speaker post to no avail.

Vinnie is probably on a well deserved weekend break, so i have not been able to get in touch.  Anyone have any suggestions to help. Looks like I may have to send it back. aRGGGGGGHHHHH. Wonder if the wiring is interally reversed , or something got loose in transit.

I can get more left sided output if i turn down the volume control on my cdp and turn up the internal sig vol control to max. surely this is not ideal however.

On the bright side, the sound I am getting even in this state, is all its cracked up to be. Destroys the flying moles i ran for a while.

 Oh what a tease.............

Switch the RCA connections at your CDP.  If the low volume moves to the other speaker it's your CDP.  Do you have a fixed volume out, if so try that.

Other than that, call vinnie, I'm sure he'll make it right.

Hi kbuzz3,

You don't know me very well, do you?  :green:   I WISH there was time for a break, but it'll be a while!   :bounce:

Nice speaking with you today and based on our conversation, I'd say your poor amp took a beating in shipping and my guess is a connection was broken.  I'll take care of it for you ASAP....should be very easy.  I'm glad that the unit was not cosmetically damaged because that maple enclosure is total eye candy  8)

Regarding the binding posts, Louis uses Vampire posts and just like his speakers, he always makes the "+" post to the right when looking at the posts (from the back of the speaker or the back of the amp).  The posts are marked RED and BLACK by vampire, so definitely follow that convention, where RED = + and BLACK = negative.

Just wait until you get to hear BOTH channels.... you are in for a treat

Thanks for your patience and understanding with this.  I will have it taken care of ASAP.

Enjoy your weekend,

Vinnie

PS: Thanks mpauly for giving kbuzz3 a suggestion while I was not on audiocircle last night...

What the heck is the "Omega" mapple eye candy edition?  Did I miss a post here or what.  If it's a mapple enclosure, I request picture immediately, ho ok, I beg on my knees for pictures as soos as possible!  :green:

So after shooting me an email this past sunday on a holiday weekend and taking time to talk on the phone about the amp with my kids screaming, vinnie offers to drive an hour out of his way to pick up the amp.  He does and it turns out the volume control was damaged in shipping.  What can you say about this kind of dedication!

VR takes customer service to a new level.  What a great experience.  Im floored. Talk about standing behind your product.
