My stereo system consists of: Odyssey Mono Extremes, Odyssey Tempest, Groneberg TS Premium Speaker Cables, Groneberg I.C. and Power Cords, Jolida 100 Cd Player w/ Sylvania 5151 Tubes.

This is my first time on building speakers.  The Peridot was a rewarding but challenging speaker to build.  After listening to a lot of cds, in my opinion, this is a world class speaker.  It will play very low when the music calls for it to.  The bass is very tight, not boom-y.  No sub needed in my opinion.  The more I listen, the better I like them.  My main goal is to have the music sound as if it were live.  This speaker comes very close to it.

It's a very musical speaker.  It lets you hear more details in the music, getting you more involved.  The mid-range is excellent as is the ribbon tweeter.  You can be in the next room and it still sounds great.  All in all, I am happy with the speakers; I'm glad I went with the Peridots.  I find myself listening to music even more now.   :thumb:  There is no listening fatigue while playing at sane listening levels.

Are those sealed, rear ported or downfiring port?  They look great!

Wood?

Great job, doesn't look like it was your fist day in the shop, very nice.  I'm eyeing the Peridot kit as well.  How was it to taper the cabinet?

Very nice indeed :green:  I am jealous at your woodworking skills.  What type of veneer did you use?

The real question is will you be prepared to have another moderator ready to take your place?

Sure.

I love my Salks, but I am very open minded and not blindly attached to ANY single vendor.

If you build a better product (in terms of sound, quality, and service) that I can afford, I would absolutely buy it.

George

Just jerking your chain a little  :)

We can meet or exceed your criteria. BTW, I asked that guy who posted about your editing of comments to tell me what the reason was for his post. He never returned my PM. Just wanted you to know I had nothing to do with that.

Not sure what you are talking about in terms of editing somebody's comments...

Hopefully we can work something out on an audition.

Do you pull those speakers out into the room for critical listening? It seems like they should be boomy if they're rear ported and placed right up against the rear wall. Just curious...

Mike can respond later but I wanted to interject that the port is tuned very low (22hz) so near-wall placement has little effect on the port location.

Wood blocks - I haven't ordered the feet yet.

It was challenging - a lot more difficult than a straight cabinet would have been.  Take your time and go slow.
