I've been wanting to try a NOS-DAC for a while now. Since I've recently decided to set up a bedroom/headphone system, nows a good time. This DAC has the right size/price/inputs, and I was readt to order. But I just saw this thread on headfi:

I just bought a DAC-Ah from Pacific Valve with upgraded op amps. I been burning it in and listen in once and awhile. I hear no problems with it so far. Except its awefully boomy compared to my reference CD player.

I haven't received any such feedback regarding them.

I can't see doing any mods to the DAC-AH though. It just isn't work it. By the time you crack the top on it and do anything to it, you are easily into the price range of the DAC-72. The DAC-72 and the DAC-60 are much better units. There is nothing you can do to the DAC-AH that will bring it up to the level of a DAC-72. So I can't see throwing any money at it in that way.
