Outlaw Amps

Hi All, has anyone tried these M200 Mono blocks from Outlaw Audio? Just curious how they sound? Was thinking about getting a pair.

I used them for about a year and a half to drive Maggie 1.6QRs and CC3s. I thought the amps sounded surprisingly good considering the amount of money I paid for them. They were recently replaced with Exodus UcD400AD amps which to my ear are better sounding - more detail and punch, and cleaner.

I used them to tri-amp my Orions.  I still haven't decided if I like the Hypex UcD180-based amps I built better than the M200's.  

Now, they are used to tri-amp the MTMs in my den.  Great amps, very reliable and flexible.

Hi Darwin,

Did you build your UCD amps as a kit, or buy them already made from Kevin?

Kevin built them.  I had him build a two and a three channel for me. The build quality is excellent. I may build the next one myself using one of Kevin's upcoming kits (a four channel to drive my IB subwoofer) to save myself a few pennies and gain some experience with DIY.

I've owned M200s for about three years now. They are GREAT for HT, but even though they are very reasonably priced, I just can't recommend them for music anymore. If the primary focus of your home audio system is HT, though, then you'll have a hard time finding anything better.
I used them for Paradigm studio/100s, Magnepan MMGs, and briefly on some Von Schweikert VR-1s. They always did a great job for me.

I just replaced them with a Butler 5150, and, as expected, the difference is reall something. But the Outlaws are great HT amps, and will do an adequate job with music.
