Good morning to all.  I am a new registrant to this forum and have not written an introduction for myself before, so please bear with me.

I am not sure that I qualify as an "audiophile", but I am a member of the Colorado Audio Society and truly miss the Rocky Mtn Audio Festival since it's demise several years ago.  My system is squarely in the mid-to-upper mid "fi" range and includes: YG Acoustics Hailey 2.2 loudspeakers; an Ypsilon Phaethon integrated amplifier; and a Thales Slim TT (w/ a Thales Easy Tonearm, an Ikeda Kai Reference Cartridge and a Parasound JC3+ phono preamp.) My digital sources are a dCS Rossini APEX DAC and Clock and a Parasound Halo CD1, plus an Ayre Codex DAC (for Headphones).  I use a mix of cabling from various manufacturers -- some of which is good, but some is truly great.  Since moving towards digital I haven't listened as much to my record collection because I find almost everything I like and want to hear available in Qobuz and Tidal.

While my system is very resolving and clear, musicality is of prime importance to me and I like all kinds of different music.  I love female jazz singers (both current/modern and 40's/50's/60's circa) and my system has been tailored to replicate/present their voices and sound in the most musical way that I find beguiling and within the framework that I can afford. I think of it as nightclub music, female singers backed by trios & combos, its what my parents played non-stop when I was growing up and I grew to appreciate it.  My wife calls them my "girlfriends".  I also listen to a lot of Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, Vince Guaraldi, and Bossa Nova -- this genre soothes my soul and always helps me feel settled.  But, I also dig Seattle grunge and lots of 1970's alt rock (if anyone here is old enough to remember the original radio station KSAN--the Jive 95--from that time period).

And that should about do it in terms of introducing myself, I hope!

Welcome to AudioCircle Hobblecreek!

I wouldn't call your system "squarely in the mid to upper mid fi" but it's what you think that matters.
I'd definitely like to hear a system that you consider "hi-fi."

I try to be careful about stating where my system lies -- to some it’s up there, but to others there are definite things they may not like about this or that choice. This is a very subjective hobby/pursuit and it has taken many years to get my sound to where I am sublimely happy. I guess I choose to call it "squarely" simply because most of the components I own fall into the middle-range of what each manufacturer makes and offers. Please note also that choosing that term was not meant to sound self-deprecating or as an attempt to sound humble. I feel fortunate to have put together what I have. Could I have spent more? For sure yes, but I'm not sure I need to do that. Have I heard both lesser and higher priced components that exceed what's in my kit? Absolutely, but I'm not one to constantly be changing and chasing. Anyway, I'll stop rambling on, thanks for commenting.

Welcome to AC.  I would call you an audiophile.

I like your background story.  My parents used to listen to the live at Carnagie Hall with Harry Belafonte LP from 1959.  I believe they went to the actual concert.  I have great memories of this and it was my first introduction to HiFi and influenced my taste in music.   My dad was an EE and built our system.  Thanks for sharing. :D

I have 9 TB's of music and a Luxman DAC, but I am just getting back into vinyl.  I just bought a new Pro-Ject Classic Evo TT and a Gold Note PH-10 phono preamp 2 to 3 weeks ago.  Vinyl never sounded better.

Thanks, your comments do prompt me to not neglect the vinyl I have -- I do need to put these records back into rotation!
