Good morning to all. I am a new registrant to this forum and have not written an introduction for myself before, so please bear with me.
I am not sure that I qualify as an "audiophile", but I am a member of the Colorado Audio Society and truly miss the Rocky Mtn Audio Festival since it's demise several years ago. My system is squarely in the mid-to-upper mid "fi" range and includes: YG Acoustics Hailey 2.2 loudspeakers; an Ypsilon Phaethon integrated amplifier; and a Thales Slim TT (w/ a Thales Easy Tonearm, an Ikeda Kai Reference Cartridge and a Parasound JC3+ phono preamp.) My digital sources are a dCS Rossini APEX DAC and Clock and a Parasound Halo CD1, plus an Ayre Codex DAC (for Headphones). I use a mix of cabling from various manufacturers -- some of which is good, but some is truly great. Since moving towards digital I haven't listened as much to my record collection because I find almost everything I like and want to hear available in Qobuz and Tidal.
While my system is very resolving and clear, musicality is of prime importance to me and I like all kinds of different music. I love female jazz singers (both current/modern and 40's/50's/60's circa) and my system has been tailored to replicate/present their voices and sound in the most musical way that I find beguiling and within the framework that I can afford. I think of it as nightclub music, female singers backed by trios & combos, its what my parents played non-stop when I was growing up and I grew to appreciate it. My wife calls them my "girlfriends". I also listen to a lot of Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, Vince Guaraldi, and Bossa Nova -- this genre soothes my soul and always helps me feel settled. But, I also dig Seattle grunge and lots of 1970's alt rock (if anyone here is old enough to remember the original radio station KSAN--the Jive 95--from that time period).
And that should about do it in terms of introducing myself, I hope!
