Hi Pauly,

Just my 2 cents - I built the OKARA II with upgraded caps, wiring and tweeter for my father-in-law after doing quite a bit of research on kits.  The crossovers are IMO better built and arranged than crossovers in some speakers in the 20K range.  I purchased the NCMS handbooks on cabinet manufacture, wiring and crossover assembly prior to purchasing the kits and overall I was very impressed.  Actually the crossovers came preassembled for proprietary reasons.  George performance matched the drivers and included corresponding response plots for the crossovers.  The drivers were also supplied shielded at my request.  Lee Taylor made the cabinets and they are beautiful.  He is also a pleasure to work with.  I selected the Okara’s for a small and acoustically challenged listening room.  We later added the impressive Poseidon subwoofer to supplement the light but well tuned bass response.  I expect these speakers are a h much higher caliber than the NAD equipment connected to it, and hope be able to compare with a AKSA sometime soon!!!

I have been eying the NCMS Manifest for a potential AKSA combination -perhaps the ingenious use of the ribbon tweeters in that speaker will work for you?

NCMS kits are voiced in a similar way according to George - but the quality goes up with driver and crossover versions.  My impression without other highend amplification to verify is a pretty neutral, not euphonic or analytical sound.  It does not play to the impress me-at-first listen crowd - and no element draws attention to itself.  For what its worth - my father in law is over the moon and has become a much more critical listener as a result.

Cheers

Brendan

Hi Kyrill,

I use an AKSA 25w (which is a down-rated 55) for my Maggie IIIa ribbons.  Because it has no "power-on thump", there is absolutely no problem having a "nekked" ribbon.

..

Andy

Hi Andy

The ribbon of the maggie is a different one from the Aurum Cantum III that I have. I see my ribbons making one swift  movent over one inch!
I noticed now than one tweeter I have to replace the ribbon as it is too much stretched out and did not come back in it its original position
