Can I purchase a Larger sub in kit form?

I'd like to get a price both with and without the cabinet.
I would definitely want Megawoofer option.

Thanks...
David

Hi David,

The LARGER sub kit (according to my sheets) is $579 w/cabinet
and $329 wo/cabinet

Megawoofs are $140 additional and SoundCoat is $75.

Additionally you can now add Piano Black finish $40 and a 1000watt amp for $399.

Other options include: Passive x-over $35 kit/ $45 assem, Analysis Plus Silver wiring $200,

The above are retail list prices, and might be slightly lower through "courtesy pricing" through your dealer.

Although dealers do not offer the same courtesy % off kits as they do assembled, and I have found that it is best to purchase kits through Brian directly, since most dealers are not able to answer detailed construction/assembly questions on kit building, unless they have built them, themselves. (of course there are exceptions, but I'm not one  )

Brian can clarify, if my info is outdated.

What's involved in completing a kit with cabinet (without a passive xo)?  Simply putting the woofs in the holes, a little extra speaker wire, and a few crimped connections?
If that's it, it doesn't seem too hard to put one together.

Hehehe, i have a feeling it takes a little more than that

Not that i know, but usually if i think something is easy it brakes my back. But it would be cool to build your own.

assembly of larger sub kit

Well, actually, that is just about it.  I had a morning's pleasantry assembling mine a year or so ago.  Strictly no sweat.

About the only thing I would add to your surmise of the assembly process is:

1.  No crimps - always solder with good silver-bearing solder.

2.  You also have to screw the "foot" onto the cabinet.  So, a few screws for the speakers, a few for the foot, solder a little wire, and that's it.  Then setup & play.

Cheers

YD,
Are the holes pre-drilled?  That sounds like a do-able kit to me.

Holes are pre-drilled.  In the case of the subs, at least, the kit savings is well worth the tiny bit of simple assembly involved, IMO.  Go for it, as long as you've got a big soldering gun.

I found the heavy wire for the subs too much for my 30W Radio Shack pencil and borrowed a friend's 50W/100W 2 stage gun.  If you use a bigger gun like this, be careful that you don't apply TOO MUCH heat and damage the spades...

Thanks for the info....this sub kit sounds highly do-able.  When I muster up the bread for one, I'll go for it in kit form.
