Hi Antun

I am using the same AKM DAC's in the BDA3 for the crossover and experimenting with different sampling - so far it looks like 96/24 gives us what we want.

The external crossover takes an analog signal on its left and right inputs and converts it to digital - then the digital crossover does the processing and outputs analog on the woofer/mid/tweeter left and right outputs.

Hi James!

Yes, exactly what I thought!

Some time ago, there was a thread on AC about a possible digital preamp. You then mentioned in one of your comments that if you may have your way. you would add an active crossover network. In the meantime, BDA-3 came out and this story faded away.

When you say you're using the same DACs as the ones in BDA-3, what do you mean? The BDA-3 is a modular design so you could be using 3 separate digital/analogue boards or do you just mean the DAC chips themselves?

Bryston could do a digital preamp with 3 BDA-3 D/A boards inside, an A/D bord and all connected to the internal digital ctossover DSP bord. Perhaps the SP-3 can do this but I am not sure whether it's DSP is set up for signal division and other parameters associated with crossover networks.

However, one thing that bothers me and that seems unavoidable with digital crossover networks is the application of analogue sources. It completely eliminates the possibility of having an entirely analogue signal path. Analogue crossover networks cannot do what their digital counterparts can and they cost far more so you are sort of stuck if you own a fine analogue source and recordings.

Cheers!

I agree - you would have to integrate a B26 with a BDA3 in a preamp to have the best of both.

I recall hearing from Pulsworks Audio that the T-Rex is still in the works.

What's the news on production date release?

Just curious, don't have a room big enough for them and can't afford 'em. :|

Hi Mag

Its kind of been put on hold for now as I want to spend some time developing the new Active systems.
