I wonder if the RM30C is shielded?  (It doesn't cause any problems on my RPTV.)

LRC can be ordered sheilded, but that is not the stock form.

None of the VMPS speakers are sheilded unless it is specified at ordering.

No additional charge for ordering the LRC sheilded.

I would think that you would automatically shield those speakers that you know are typically used on top of TVs, such as the LRC and the RM30C.  In my case, I just assumed that the RM30C was shielded.  I don't know whether my RM30C is shielded or not, but it would be a bummer to get it home, plop it on top of the TV, and have the TV picture affected.  In my case, the RM30C does not appear to be affecting the picture.

is there a sonic degradation by going shielded?  I suspect that most people who would use the RM30C as a center would be using a RPTV or front projection or plasma.  Most of the RPTv's these days are DLP, LCD, LCOS, etc that don't suffer from color and convergence issues that a CRT would.   Plus, most of the electronics in a RPTV are located at the bottom of the television.

I wonder how effective ERS paper/cloth sheets would be in instances where there is some noticeable video degradation?

I have my LRC sitting atop my RPTV (it is actually on a support base) without any untoward effects.  It is not the shielded variety.

Hi Bob,

Just to clairify, most TVs that are large enough to "support" the size of the LRC and the RM30 don't need sheilding.

Only the "direct view" tube sets have that problem.  While a LRC can be used atop or below a 36" (largest direct view) it is far more likely it will be a front or rear projection TV (40" plus) which doesn't have the problem.
