2B SST2 vs 2.5B SST2
« on: 26 Aug 2017, 11:43 am »
Hello!

Can anybody enlighten me as to what the differences between a 2B SST2 and 2.5B SST2 are? Apart from the slight increase in power output on the latter of course.

Cheers!

The differences are the 2B has 100 wpc and the 2.5 has 135wpc and newer circuits.

I think the difference is not the wpc.
My 2B SST has 143w/c.
Have you email James Tanner ?

Your unit may have measured at 143 wpc, but spec out at 100 wpc. :nono:

HI

OK checked with engineering.

The 2B SST2 was rated at 100 watts.

The 2.5B was rated at 135 watts

The 2.5 Cubed is rated at 135 watts but has the new Cubed input circuitry.

OK, thanks for all your replies!

I found a mint condition 2B SST2 at a very reasonable price so I am thinking about buying it. 100 Watts a channel would be more than enough power for me. I am not a fan of big amplifiers because my system isn't placed in a big room and because I rarely listen to music loudly.

I also know that Bryston amplifiers typically deliver 10% or even more power than their spec-sheets suggest.
