Had the great fortune to see B.B. King in the early eighties in a small venue called Parker's Restaurant & Supper Club in North Seattle.  He had the whole house on their feet at the end of the show.

Jake,

Must have been awesome.

I also saw B a few times, many of which were in larger venues but I did see him at the Cellar Door in Georgetown D.C. in about '75. A very small and intimate setting. We were both younger then. Me barely an adult.

Later in life in about '95 or '96 I had the opportunity to meet with him and have pictures taken and albums signed when I was a member of the National Press Club where he spoke about the history of Blues Music among other things.

I should dig up the pictures and de-frame and scan them like many other of my favorite photos. Hell, maybe I'll use one with him and I as an avatar. Though I hate to replace my old friend Eva.

It is hard to hear of his passing. But, the thrill of hearing him will never be gone. And fortunately thru the recorded music, he is immortal. Just a memory of him. Not about me.

James,
I think sharing some of the pics would be cool. I know I would like to see them. The more I listen to his music, the fonder I grow of his music and him. I was not a big fan before, now I am. Some of the links and stories, fellow ACers have shared here, are great.

Geo,

Good call. I should not just share music. Stories and memories and legends and language are all very important. I am actually ashamed of myself for not having such pictures on my walls to remind me how very precious the life we live actually is. I have left such reminders in boxes because maybe I felt such memories were unimportant or some others may cause me pain. And then I listen to music that I cherish and that reminds me of the very same memories. What a hypocrite I am.

Uh, my bad. Yeah, OK. I'll dig up dem pics and display them.

Thanks Bro,

James

James,

It's all good.  Don't be so hard on yourself, life's twists and turns can sometimes give us all a "momentary lapse of reason".  I would love to see those photos too, if you can find them.

While trying to figure out where I'd seen B.B. I had to do a little research.  Unfortunately I found out that Parker's is gone.  Here is a link to a piece of Seattle's music history.
http://www.historylink.org/index.cfm?DisplayPage=output.cfm&file_id=3827 and a few pics http://www.seattlepi.com/local/seattle-history/article/Historic-Parker-s-dance-hall-demolished-4102836.php

Music history is often just as fascinating as the music itself.
