But
this ad, is for the
PS Audio PWD mkII DAC.
To me...audiophile is a verb. I don't ever assume good is good enough. So...I've spent the last several years, trying various DACs, pre-amps, and power-amps; in search of the best system, I could possible assemble...at this budget.
So why sell? Did I mention audiophile was a
verb...lol. No; with an impending move, I've taken on the challenge of down-sizing. Just don't want to drag all this kit, cross-country; so I'm going to move to something smaller and simpler...until I settle in to my new digs (and no, it's not the NuForce DDA-100...lol. That was in my
Office rig, and was just for fun)
As they say...my loss is your gain; and I dare say any and all of this kit, would serve you well. I'll just paint some broad strokes on each piece here; but if you have any additional questions, about a particular piece(s)...just drop me a line. I don't mind talking a little shop one bit.
As for the PWD mkII...as you can see, I'm a single-source, discless-digital 'phile. As such...the DAC,
is the source in my system; so it's obviously very important to me. I've tried many, many...in the $500-1500 range. While they offered a lot of bang-for-the-buck...I was really surprised, just how much better this PerfectWave unit sounded. I'm a huge fan! Not only does the DAC sound great, but I think what Paul McGowen is doing with digital audio is ground-breaking. He's passionate, and a pioneer; and the PWD is his platform to take digital to the next level. IMO...the Digital Lens and the PWD's Native X mode is the key. I'll let you Google for yourself; but it's what gives the PWD mkII its great sound. As for the Network Bridge; it turns your DAC, DAC/pre-amp...into an all-in-one, scream-machine. Directly run all your digital files, right to the DAC. No need for extra ICs; and using a Media Server like JRiver...you'll have all the music, effortlessly at your fingertips.
8/10 (only because I'm the 2nd owner; otherwise, nothing cosmetically or sonically of note)
$2000 (w/o the Bridge; if you want both, or the Bridge separately...drop me a line) (cheaper than any on Audiogon currently; where I'm hiendpawn btw...perfect feedback)
