BDP-1 dropped IP address
« on: 13 May 2013, 03:13 pm »
MAYDAY MAYDAY

Hi

A flash drive was recently plugged into one of my BDP-1's and now I have no remote access into it. The Samsung tablet and iphones no longer see my BDP-1.  The only way I can get any music to play is when I press and select the front panel buttons (but selecting an album at the bottom of a large hard drive is a pure nightmare). When I scroll through the menu on the face of the BDP-1 I no longer see the IP address like I used to.   Thought it may have been a modem fault, swapped it for another netgear model, same fault.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thank you
Ronald

Hi Ronald,

Have you tried resetting the network settings from the front panel controls?  Oh and which version of the firmware are you running?

Cheers,
Chris

Hey Chris

I am still running the original firmware that the BDP-1 came with as the player has never given any issues....if it isn't broken I dont fix it....

I just selected the "factory reset" button on the front panel......the IP address is still not being displayed as it used to, till not access or control via a remote device.

How long did it take? a few seconds or three or four minutes?

Cheers,

it took about 3 maybe 4 minutes to do the reset

firmware version seems to be S1.16  2011.07.15

and there is there another odd number when I press the left arrow button 00:0d:b9:0e:04:00

I used to have an odd number like that and the IP address  (the BDP-1 at home shows both and still runs fine...the above one is here at the office)

That "odd" number is the MAC address of the player

Nice truck there on your profile pic Brad

Ok.....whats involved in doing a firmware update  ( I have never updated a hifi component). I get an update cd once in a while for my  dCS which automatically updates when you play the disc, so please excuse my ignorance.

If a firmware update doesnt work, then I will take the BDP-1 to the store I bought it from and hopefully somewhere along the way this matter can be resolved.

In the meantime...a quick thanks to everyone's input

Hi Ronald;

If you can't access the unit through the network, you're not going to have much luck updating the firmware...  I can arrange to have a new compact flash card sent out with the latest firmware on it; just send me an e-mail with your shipping address and phone # to mike@bryston.com.

This should get you up and running, and running current software.

Thanks,

Mike
