sounds better without a Dac

Okay, you people are going to think I’m nut’s but I had a short listening session with my audio system without a Dac and liked the way it sounded in some respects.

I decided to bring my PS Audio DL lll Dac with me to my apartment in Oklahoma to use with a headphone amp and hooked up my old Sony S7000 DVD direct to the preamp, I normally use the Sony as the transport in my main system

I put on, What’s New, by Linda Ronstadt and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, I heard Linda singing to me as I sat there with my mouth open, HEY, I’m not kidding.

Her voice was all around me and it sounded more like a live performance. I listened to the whole album and had it cranking. The Dac seems to make the music a little softer in the top end, I gained that raw sound quality in the top end without the edginess which makes it sound live to me.

Maybe I’m using the wrong Dac for my system, all I know is that it sounded petty darn good without it.

So what do you think, am I nut’s or deaf.

I once had one of those Sony players and it's not a bad sounding player.

Hey!

   No, you are fine. :D

Newer, more expensive, more complicated don't always mean it will sound better in your system. :D
If it sounds better to you than just enjoy it.

Take care,

Maybe both.  So what.  If it sounds good to you, to hell with the rest.
