I think it was said once that a whole different drive could be adapted if space allowed. :dunno:

Yes - James indicated it would require new software too

Yes we looked into it and it would be a whole redo. 

One thing you may not be aware of is the drive we used in the BCD-1 was a dedicated CD Drive - meaning it was clocked for 44.1.  Other drives that were available were DVD drives and they are clocked at much higher levels and require a downsample - long story short we did not want to use a DVD Drive in our dedicated CD Player.
