I just finished turning a client's Insight+ Double 240 amp into a Synergy Double 240 amp today and it is driving my 84dB sensitivity Salk HT3 speakers surprisingly well. It behaves like it has twice its rated power.
This upgrade is really an interesting project - - - just add the complete new Synergy regulated power supply module with its own internal heat sink and regulator board. It provides four more high current regulated power supplies for the output transistors and provides a rock solid reference for the audio boards existing regulators too.
As now the output transistors and audio small signal transistors are all running from the lower voltage regulated supplies rather than the higher voltage raw supply rails, the entire amplifier runs cooler. This means even better long term reliability and durability, and the basic amp designs were really bulletproof even before.
