The Synergy amplfiiers have a voltage gain of 25. This means 2.4V will drive the 450 to full power. 2V will drive the 300 to full power. This is close to the industry standard.
The input impedance is 24.9K ohm and a pure resistive load. This is a relatively easy load for any well designed preamp to drive.
The amplifiers are safe in four ohms and nearly double power into four ohms, up to the limits of the speaker fuses. If the fuses are too big, speakers could blow first. the 450 is safe into 2 ohms, the 300 too if it has the double die option ($99). Double die devices are standard on the 450.
The Synergy amplifiers are very smooth performers, but give away nothing in detail, transparency, dynamics, and musicality. We suggest that they sound like a great tube amp should sound, if the tube amp only did not have the handicap of output transformers and very limited current drive.
We think you will really enjoy a Synergy amplifier no matter what the rest of your system consists of.
