GlassWare LV-Regulator for SqueezeBox Touch
« on: 13 Jul 2012, 02:36 pm »
I've read many articles stating that replacing the stock 5V power supply for the SB Touch is a good start at improving sound quality.  I decided to try a DIY approach.

http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/lvregulatorkit.html

It is configured in a full-wave center-tapped configuration.  I have powered it up, and measure 5.01 volts on the output.

My question is this...how can I test the PS with a load before using it on the SB Touch?  I don't have any special equipment to simulate this.

Thanks, Mike

If you put a 10 ohm resistor across the load that will pull .5A, which is, I believe, about what the SB Touch draws. RadioShack has them for $2.19.

 :duh:

I = V/R... .5 = 5/10

Just happen to have one of those.  Will give it a try.

Thanks!
