Grado pin markings?

Grado pin markings?

I was wondering if anyone knows how the Grado markings translate to typical

1) white = left channel
2) blue = left channel gnd

3) red = right channel
4) green = right channel gnd

Grado uses these markings

            G
        L   
              R   
        H   

I know the R/H and G/L are coils and have a guess, but I would rather have those in the know provide their information.

The markings on the Grado are:
H - hot
G - ground
R - right
L - left
Each mark refers to the 2 pins on that side of the cartridge.

BTW, no reply to your same question on AK.  :wink:

If that doesn't help, maybe this makes it clearer.

The two pins near the L are BOTH left channel and the two pins near the R are BOTH right channel.

Example: The pin between the H and the R is Right Channel Positive. Etc, etc, etc.

Another quick question. What size allen wrench is needed to fit the screw (want to adjust the vta) on
the sme iii? I hate to risk taking the entire table to a hardware store.

Buy a complete set, they aren't that much. I'd get the set that has them individually so you don't have to clunk the hole set around. Probably can get a set for $10 at ACE hardware.

The set usually goes from .050 to 1/4"

British Unified Screw Thread standards are (for the most part) the same standards for US and Canada. However, that doesn't mean that they are not using metric threads. If I were to guess, I'd pick that they would use a #6 screw and if it is an allen type setscrew, would be 5/64.

Have you actually looked at the head? Many of my tables have a slotted head on the set screw that simply requires a small screw driver.

Big unknown here.

Hi Wayne,

No slot, and I was able to pickup a couple of metrics, they did not have any small american sizes on hand.

1.5mm is slightly to small while 2mm is too large so 5/64th won't work.

I am figuring 1/16", at 1.587mm, maybe just large enough to work.
Decimals, 1/16" is .0625 while 1.5mm is .0590

Now I have to find one.

I looked at the wrong column. Your set screw is almost for sure a #6, and it needs a 1/16" allen wrench, not 5/64 (which is for cap screws, my blunder). So now this should be a piece of cake for you.

The Machinery's Handbook comes in handy once in a while.
