VinylFlat - has anyone tried one?
« on: 22 May 2012, 03:43 pm »
VinylFlat seems to be getting positive reviews on various audio forums as well as a favorable review from Stereophile.

I'm mostly interested in using the oven method since I've heard a few reports of the AC adapter power supplies dieing on the pouch.

Has anyone tried one?

There is an existing thread on the Vinyl Flat, http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=96501.0.

I use the pouch with very good results. I have not heard of any problems with the AC adapter and given how helpful the guys who invented and sell this are, I would think they would replace it.

I've had good luck with it, though as you may have seen from the Stereophile article, careful monitoring of oven temperature is critical.

Yes, a separate oven thermometer seems key. At the temps that the VinylFlat operates, DO NOT trust your oven dial.

A lot of ovens, both old and new, do not have setting as low as 150 degrees.
