Update...
After trying to resolve the mistracking on some of the LPs (mind you these are the 45 RPM LPs as well as LPs I know the Shelter 901 tracks well on, so it's not the LP) by azimuth, VTF and alignment, I've given up and sent it back for a replacement.  Unfortunately, at the time I inquire for a replacement, they had other Ruby Zs in stock, however, when they got the cartridge back, there were none left...so, my money was refunded...and well, it was a good experience, the Z really sounded amazing, but without any in stock, I don't have one to listen to...
Anyways, this was at a discount so I won't be able to spend the $4k for one from other dealers.   :duh:

I now just purchased a Zu Denon 103, grade 2 as a back up.    :thumb:

Sorry to hear that didn't work out but at least you didn't lose on the deal. I have a Zu 103R and love it, so there is hope, just not the holy grail you wished for  :thumb:

Tom, thanks...
Actually, I like the 901 very much.  The Z was different and wonderful!  I would have like to have it worked out, but well.

Tom, thanks...
Actually, I like the 901 very much.  The Z was different and wonderful!  I would have like to have it worked out, but well.  I've heard the 103R before, but not the Zu modified version.  I was thinking that the 103 would be a change in pace and good for those not so good recorded records, right?  give me some rest in the ears but still be musical! :P
Yes, that's exactly it, still musical and easy on the ears, good on the heart. Not the last word in detail, extension, and technical stuff, but plenty nice for general use. I'm using it in my Trans-Fi setup, thinking I'd move up to a higher end cart, but haven't really had the urge to splurge just yet. I do think I'd have to spend several times the money to best it. I'm not even sure what the candidates would be at this point. Maybe SS "The Voice" like Mike has or a Transfiguration, but who knows?
