Time to buy Coronet 2 parts
« on: 30 May 2004, 01:58 am »
The Digikey resistors seem to be metal oxide, I have been using Vishay metal film with good results. And I already have some of the values. Will this substitution throw the voicing off? Also I have a really funky cabinet to use, do the output jacks have to be PCB mounted, or will there be a ground loop or RFI issue if remote from the PCB, say 6"?  :? Thanx billwjr

Yes, the stock resistors are metal oxide films.  Regular metal films should be better.  No idea what this does to the voicing.  Only improve is you ask me.

Neither input or output jacks have to be board mounted.  One of the mentioned upgrades in the manual is for the gold plated chassis-mount jacks.  I can't guarantee hum-free operation if you mount then wherever.  But really, going farther away from the power tranny is only a good thing.
