In that pic, the receiver/tuner appears to be a mid-70's Pioneer (possibly)?  My first stereo was a Pioneer receiver and it looked almost exactly like that (I think it was the SX-nnn  series).

Nice reel to reel rig as well.

Pioneer made some really nice stuff back then.  I owned one of those racks and had rack mount equipment.  That was in the early 1980s, although the rack and some of the equipment may date back a couple of years prior.  I owned the (Pioneer) cassette deck that went in the rack.  I picked the rack up on closeout with pieces of some of the rack mount kits from a retailer going out of business for about $90 and bought about $50 worth of parts to make the rack mount kits and what I had complete.  I think the few rack mount kits and rack I had at that point were $700 list.  I had a friend who had the reel to reel and he wanted the cassette deck and the rack and I he eventually traded me a Nakamichi 680 cassette deck for the Pioneer Cassette deck and the rack and the kits.

Here's another shot of some of the vintage Pioneer components from that era - http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=352962

The cassette deck I had (CTF-1250) was introduced in 1979 (I believe I bought mine toward the end of 1980 or beginning of 1981 on close-out):

The rack and kits actually do date to the mid 1970s (although I bought mine probably in 1981-1982):

Lots of pictures of their components from back then at the above site.

Does anyone else find it hilariously ironic that a thread about heat dissipation has turned into a flame war?  :flame:
