BP26/MPS2 Dead
« on: 3 Dec 2011, 06:23 pm »
Went to fire up the system this morning and found that the BP26/MPS2 was dead - no power light.  Tried different socket, fuse in the power socket (UK plugs have a 13 amp fuse in the plug), changed the power cable, but still dead.  Can't see any user accessible fuse on the MPS2 itself.

Any ideas on what else to try, or does this mean taking it all back to the shop?

According to the MPS-2 Owner's manual there is a fuse in the MPS-2 accessible by removing the top cover.  Caveat is "don't try this at home" because of shock potential but I would check it out.

Besides getting your fingers in there to pop the fuse, if you can't visually see that it is physically blown you can normally put an AC voltmeter across the fuse.  A good fuse would show 0V (no voltage drop) while a blown fuse would show the entire input voltage across the fuse.

No need to worry.
My fuse was blown twice. I am in Europe 220V/50Hz.
Your friendly Bryston dealer will fix it in minutes.  :thumb:

Thanks.
I am currently travelling on business so haven't been able to take care of the problem yet.  Have written to Mike Pickett, but haven't heard back yet.

Looks like I will have to drag it into the dealer when I get back.

As a matter of interest, did you figure out what caused the fuse to blow in your system?
Cheers,
Waleed.

James,
No answer back from Mike.  I am finally back in Singapore, so I guess it is time for a trip to the dealer.

Just back from the shop.  They did a quick check and it is not the fuse.  They need to take it to their workshop for more in depth troubleshooting.  No music for the holidays
