In the late 1970s, I was at a party in NYC and Rother was there. He rather stiffly corrected my mispronunciation of Neu. Neu is pronounced ‘Noy’ and not as ‘New’ as I was pronouncing it. I have a limited command of lanquage and did not know that.
I am not like a smart person.

I pretty much missed Krautrock. However, I am a fan of Cluster and the Eno/Cluster collaborations, influential but not directly related. I am also a fan of Karlheinz Stockhausen, directly related to almost everything.
Karlheinz Stockhausen was a major influence on krautrock. CAN’s Irmin Schmidt and Holger Czukay were in fact students of Stockhausen.

Also indirectly related, the Boss. When Bruce first hit big in early 70s with his photo on TIME and Jon Landau (?) proclaiming “I have seen the future of rock and roll and it is Bruce Sprinsteen”, the Boss reportedly replied,
“I have seen the future of rock and roll and it is Kraftwerk.”

I think he was kidding.

It was discourteous of Rother correct your pronunciation,
he could just say ''noy'' and you already realize the right
name pronunciation. The Neumann mikes also are the same.

NEU! was a short life band, it was know that Klaus Dinger and
Rother had a rough relationship, that you now confirmed, they
recorded only 3 albums: Neu! - Neu! 2 - Neu! 75
The band name still had officially an interrogation point!

I did pick up a copy of 'Together' on CD, but it's strictly vinyl for the rest of their albums. On that same first trip to a German record store, I bought 'Sommerabend' by Novalis and 'Timewind' by Klaus Schulze. I was rather pleased with the lot. Over the years I lived there, I found a pretty large selection of great music that I doubt I would have ever heard if I had lived my entire life in the US. Then again, thanks to YouTube, I've found a great deal of incredible music from all over the world.

Rother's collaboration in 1973 thru 1976 with Roedelius and Moebius that resulted in the Harmonium releases Musik Von Harmonium and Deluxe are some of my favorite Krautrock....

Certainly Eloy is a finest Krautrock band, it came a time that I had all the Eloy CDs so due I feel it was a bit commercial music like Omega or Hawkwind, I keep only Ocean and trade the other CDs for ones from Larry Fast, it was not a smart move as the Eloy discs were original Germany Electrola.

Wolfgang Riechmann music is highly original, simple, hypnotic and ethereal, resulting in music of extraordinary beauty. He started his musical career in 1966 or 1969 according sources, after playing with Michael Rother and Wolfgang Flür in a school band both later famous with Kraftwerk and Neu, Riechmann then became member of an other Düsseldorf located band called Streetmark.

In the end of 1977 he started working on his solo album Wunderbar which was released by SKY Records, unfortunately 3 weeks before the album release he was killed by two drunk guys who stabbed him to death without reason just to "letting off steam" after a dispute with the landlord of the local pub, as the murderer later say in the court. RIP

The Scorpions are not really considered Krautrock, despite being a German rock band.

Krautrock usually refers to bands that were somewhat experimental, avant-garde, psychedelic or progressive.
