DirecTV HD-DVR - Can programs be copied to a DVD
« on: 29 Mar 2007, 07:46 pm »
I recently switched from cable to DirecTV.
I also purchased one HD-DVR and one regular DVR.
Is there a way to dump recorded programs out of the DVR and onto a DVD?

If not is there a way to save recorded programs to any other media so the DVR doesn't run out of disc space?

Thanks,
Jeff

What is the model number of your DVRs? Are they from DirecTV?

I have heard that output from these DVRs is usually limited to SVHS quality, that is you can plug an svhs cable in and record to a DVD Recorder or SVHS VCR.

Also you may not be able to copy some content, such as HBO movies or Series, or you may have to do the DVD-R VR mode (which allows only one copy).

The high def is called DIRECTV Plus HD DVR.  The other one is the same without the HD feature.

Yes.

I found the books yesterday and there are several options for "out to tv" from the DVR that can also be used to connect a VCR or DVD Recorder.

The next step will be to pick up a few cables and experiment.

Thanks for responding jqp.
