You might end up being sued by Noel Lee.

Kevin,

What is the maximum amount of weight these things can handle? Can't wait to try these with those Maelstroms I have on pre-order!

I'm hoping so.

I'd rename my entire cable lineup MONSTER Cables but I don't want to loose that many sales.   THEY would have to pay me damages for the loss of revenue I'd have.

The included mass kit has 1250g of weights.    You can probably use upwards of 1800-2000g but I don't know the limit without loading some up and letting her rip (literally).

There isn't a hard and fast limit.   It becomes an issue of you progressively moving towards more and more stress on the device as you add more & more mass.

Thanks for your reply.....  What is the fs before adding any mass? I apologize if it's a noobie question. Unibox needs that for my modeling. :thumb:

Man these things are gonna be housewreckers! With approximately 1250 grams of mass, a pair of maelstroms with  quad 18 pr's in 14 cubic feet (7 ft per driver), I'm getting over 123 db at 20 hz! That's with 1500 watts each before they are even brought in the house!  :o

I'm not gonna hear the end of it from the misses.

Ha!   That should pressurize the room alright.   What is your room like?   If you put that in an enclosed concrete basement you are going to have absolutely insane amounts of overhead.

We had a single 15" Tumult PR system at CES and we could get our entire section of the hotel moving.   You are going to have a good 30% more swept volume per driver & PR.   Not only that, you will have TWO of them so a housewrecker would be an accurate assessment.

uuummmmm.....my livingroom! It's about 2300 cubic feet, but it opens up into a small dining area. It's gonna be insane! My current setup is a pair of 15 inch avalanches in sealed boxes with only 1000 watts for the two of them. Don't get me wrong, they are great.......but I couldn't pass these up when I saw their parameters. I just have to decide what amp to use.

Will the maelstroms be able to handle one of those Face F-2000 tx's ? I've heard some raves  about that one for sub duty.

They are twice the price of the F1200-TS and it is rare that Face has them in stock.    I'd go with the F1200-TS because it is a good match power-wise for a pair of Maelstrom-Xs and cost is $785 each.

John,

I don't have final numbers yet.    I should have a fairly good idea in a week or two.

I'm aiming for $85 on the PR-15 & $100 on the PR-18.

I'd agree with Kevin here; if it's any help, I've had one driving an old Infinity Perfect 12 for a couple of weeks - very, very clean amp - I've also tried it driving a pair of monitors; in my opinion the perceived SQ is better than my Emo MPS amp...oh wait, it's gone :D

Yikes.... just got a quote and the prices are going to be more like $100 & $125.    I'm looking at offering the brass mass kit as a separate item and just 100g weights so you can order what you need with rather than get a bunch of weights you don't need.    That may help contain cost but I think my price estimates are going to be on the low side.

Kevin,

How about a PR-21?  This would be a perfect compliment to the Monster-21 driver and have the added distinction of being the only 21" PR in existence (to my knowledge anyway.)  For those of us crazy individuals with 18" drivers and PR's, this might be the next "logical" step :icon_lol:

We have one in the que.   It requires.... a 21" basket which is being developed with the Sicko-21".

The Monster name was a joke by the way.     :)

That's funny.... I have the same amp! How would you describe the differences? Thanks for your time Larry.
