What's a Good Jitter Spec?

Very few CDP manufacturers seem to post jitter stats for their players, although I see that Cambridge audio has done so for its 540C and 640C Azur CD players - 260 pS for both (http://www.cambridge-audio.co.uk/noflash/azurseries.html)

Can anybody comment on whether these are good jitter specs and what range of jitter one might find in CD Players (say very good to very bad)?

Good questions, which I can't answer properly

Jitter (of which there is more than one variety) has a defined acceptable level in the Redbook CD specs, but I can't remember offhand what it is - 300pS? 600pS? Sorry - can't help more.
