If I wasn't married, I'd have a pair of dual OB servo subs as speaker stands and a pair suspended from the ceiling!! :thumb:

That’s an interesting idea, but I meant an otica , I guess like the center channel design on top a horizontal double trouble. But don’t forget the possible benefit of subwoofers is that they can be placed at a location that might work better than the location of the mains.

That may be true for all other subs, but OB servo subs are designed to play higher, so placing them too far from the mains isn't ideal. IMO, they work best either directly underneath or next to the mains, or close to the seating position. The best workaround is to have multiple OB subs, but that's costly and you need the real estate for it.

I have the subs set at 60hz. Moving the subs changes the impact and imaging-soundstage, plus across the board detail. Sometimes I wonder if certain subs location I tried block or reflect some of the back waves of the mains and affect the overall performance, or is just getting lucky regarding better integration? If you think about, what you hear at your listening position is a combined mix of direct and reflected sound.

Definitely. I have a third sub lying horizontally in the middle and behind the main subs/speakers. Moving this sub forward or backward by a couple of inches changes the sound. I'm assuming this is partly due to the back waves of the mains.

Try crossing them over at 70hz.  Gives a little more impact for movies.

What’re y’all’s opinion on all forward facing subs vs. one facing the other way?

Or even higher. Take the muzzle off that dog and let it woof!

Doesn't matter.

The biggest advantage of alternating the driver orientation is weight distribution. If you are building triples or quads and placing them on carpet, the more even weight distribution will make them more stable.

The biggest disadvantage is that it makes the wiring more complicated. If you are using solid core wire, fishing the wire between the front and back of the baffles is a bit of a pain.

If I was building duals (or even triples on hard floors), I wouldn't bother with alternating the drivers. I don't think there is any difference in sound quality.
