« on: 8 Aug 2019, 03:10 am »
My Windows 10 MS Paint (not Paint 3D) are unable to drag small areas, the select tool are not operating as due, its no more possible to select and drag small areas in JPG, PNG, GIF or BMP images, only large areas selected are allow to move.
My built is 1903 OS 18362.267

It was working properly a few weeks ago.
Iam not happy as I use Paint everyday.

Does it happen when you select cut?  How about if you select the area and hit 'Ctrl' and 'X' and then move it to another area and hit 'Paste.'

It happen when I use Rectangular Selection or Free Form Selection.

I do what you suggest and the copied area appear as usual in the top left area of the image but it was unable to move to the suited area as happened before.

Try running, command prompt

      --------->              sfc /scannow
See if that will fix some files??

Go back to a previous version of Windows.
I have found these BS " cumulative updates" screw things up.
I stopped all updates except for Win antivirus updates.

I just restored my system. Getting slow over time.
It gives you the choice to save your files and programs, with a listing off what you would have to reinstall.
Or clean install of Win 10.

So much for the system file scan.
You wonder how this stuff breaks in the first place.
It would be easier if it was a separate program,, but it's built in.

Where did you get Paint? All I could find is Paint3D which has both 2D and 3D. My Windows 10 only has Paint3D.

Usually the best and only solution is to uninstall the program using either using Windows or CCleaner and then re-install a current version.

Here is how:

Paint (old 2D) was included with Windows 10 and remains installed after updating to Creators Edition.  You can find it under Windows Accessories or click the Start button, type "paint" and it should bring up both Paint and Paint 3D.

Paint no longer exists in new OEM or Retail releases as Microsoft feels the 2D functionality is available in Paint 3D.  For a while it was available as an app to download at the Microsoft Store, but for whatever reason can't be found there now.

There is no uninstall routine for it, and like many other Windows accessories and small apps, are just part of the OS.

I was thinking that if Paint was still available at the MS Store, maybe it could be downloaded and installed to overwrite/repair the existing one, but maybe it would have generated an 'already installed' error, who knows?  For now it's a moot point.

MS Paint with extra features, recreated in Javascript.
https://jspaint.app/

Read the ABOUT page:
https://github.com/1j01/jspaint#readme

"Ah yes, good old paint. Not the one with the ribbons or the new skeuomorphic one with the interface that can take up nearly half the screen. And sorry, not the even newer Paint 3D.
Windows 95, 98, and XP were the golden years of paint. You had a tool box and a color box, a foreground color and a background color, and that was all you needed.

"Things were simple.
But we want to undo more than three actions. We want to edit transparent images. We can't just keep using the old paint."

"So that's why I'm making JS Paint. I want to bring good old paint into the modern era.
