Interconnect Placement Advice
« on: 11 Mar 2010, 10:51 pm »
Hi gang!
I need expert opionions on this matter.

I have a Bryston 4Bsst amp, BP26, Marantz SM-11s2 and a phono preamp running to a VPI Scout 2.

I use Monster M1000 interconnects running between amp and preamp, turntable and phono, phono and preamp.

I have Audience AU24 running between SACD and the preamp.

I am purchasing a Harmonic Tech Magic Link 2 and need advice as to placement.

I was considering moving the Audience to the Preamp/amp link and placing the new interconnect in the SACD/preamp link. Am I correct in thinking that source to preamp should have the best interconnect, while the preamp to amp comes second? Would my Audience cable be better suited for the turntable/phono or phono/pre link?

I hope what I have shared makes sense.

Thank you so much for your thoughts!
Shaun.

I think source. If the lake is polluted it has to go down stream to the rivers and creeks.
That's where she starts at the source.

This assumes that the new wire actually performs better. That's not a given.

I think past_or just needs to try the wire in various places and see where he thinks it sounds best. It's going to come down to a completely subjective perception anyway, so why not just cut to the chase?

any chain is as strong as the weakest link. it doesn't really matter where that weakest link is.
