The Mk IV is indeed a single channel St-70.  Unfortunately it has half the space available for the circuit board, not nearly enough room for the new Ultimate audio circuits and power supply.  Also demand for upgrading the MK IV is at about 1 percent of that for the ST-70, not enough to make it economical to design new circuit boards to try and shoe horn into the space available.

Don't forget to add that if a MkIII board was thought worthwhile the MkIV could share it with only some parts changes. :duh: Oops! Did I mention one of Frank's least favorite amps? :evil:

Don't forget a U70 can be bridged using an AVA Inverter Bridge into a mono amp, similar to bridging two of them into a stereo pair:
