When will OS3 be available?
« on: 26 May 2024, 01:24 am »
I have a BR20 (BDP1 before that).

I did a search on OS3 and didn't find anything that is a recent update on the release date of OS3.

Perhaps I have missed something.

Does anyone have an update?

Thanks

Any reason you're not just using Roon and solving all your problems?  Roon with the BR-20 is a magical experience and makes listening to music so much better.  I recommend you give it a try.

Last update I saw was in Feb 2023...

"Hi Folks

NN is no more - it is now part of OS3
Time-line is sometime this summer.

James"

It would be nice to have any update about the OS3 release plan, I know it’s risky to disclose it but, after so many years, I believe it is something that all MM users would really appreciate! (well all minus 1) 8) :icon_lol: 8) …joking of course

you could spin up a SGC ST gen3 and a year of ROON for <$1.5k.  I bet that would sound purdy good.   And a first Gen ST over on USAudio for $500, thats what I host ROON on and its purdy solid.

Isn't this upgrade no longer happening due to the discontinuation of the BDP-3 thus BDP platform is no more?

There’s still the BR20 using MM and they indicated new streamers would be coming.

This happened 1 year and a half ago… I think a new update would make all of us very happy.
I work in software and I know that a software project lasting more than 2 years without any release is like keeping fish in the fridge. Additionally, I don’t think a team of only 2 developers can handle that.

I am inclined  to agree. I am a very long term, happy Bryston user (going all the way back  to when I bought a 3B amp for a biamped Infinity 2.5 system), and am very happy with my BDP3 and BDA3. But it would be nice to have a little insight into what direction Bryston is going with MM and OS3.

Since the BDP3 is no longer in production. I have been thinking perhaps those who want a new interface could invest in Roon software to solve the interface issue; just a thought.

I don't have any "issue" with the MM interface, I'm simply interested in its OS and Bryston's strategy for updating it. I'm not really interested in Roon, which adds its own layer of complexity and certainly doesn't qualify as an "investment."

LOL!  Roon is far less complex and much more intuitive than MM.

I don't have any issue with MM at all. Why would I want additional hardware and a Roon subscription?

OS3 replaces MM. It was to be called NN, but the new feature list is more extensive than just a face lift. Maybe that’s why they changed the name.

Yes, I understand that, of course.
As to the new feature list - that's anybody's guess, it would seem.
