Tommy,

Can the x-Cherry have the "no sleep" mod done that the maraschino monos can or have the on/auto/off sleep control of the STM for folks using high sensitivity speakers and low volume listening, as noted in the description of the "no sleep" mod on your website?

Thanks!
Yes, we can do that if desired, but wake up sensitivity was increased years ago to about -60dBFS.

So, even very soft sound sounds will wake up the appropriate channels — each channel’s sleep mode is independent.

Tommy,

I was looking at the photos of this amp and the case drawings this morning and got to wondering - how big (dimensions) is the power supply?  Would it be possible/would they fit/would cooling be adequate to stack two power supplies inside this chassis such that one could say in a 2-cherry configuration have a full dual-mono amp?  On a 4-cherry effectively 2-2-cherry amps in one box?  On a 5-cherry say one power supply feeding two channels for main L-R and the second feeding the other three for C-SL-SR?

Thanks!

Jon

Jon,

It’s possible, but would require a redesign of the chassis and power distribution.

The alternative is multiple x-CHerry amps in whatever configuration desired, each having its own 1000W power supply.  We have provided a few deals like this already with a deep discount on the second amp.  Thanks.

Power Pipes (TM)

Check out the Power Pipes (TM) in the new x-CHerry!!

This provides ultra low impedance power distribution to the individual channels.

x-CHerry Configurations

For the record, the x-CHerry (2-5 channel Maraschino Cherry monoblock based amp) comes in KING and standard version.

The KING version has Gold WBT binding posts, a beautiful faceplate, and double rail capacitance on all channels.

Faceplates are available on red or black, your choice.  They are 3/8" thick anodized brushed aluminum with signature Cherry silkscreen.

All 2-CHerry amps (both standard and KING versions) come with TRIPLE rail caps!

That is an interesting power distribution setup.  Are those solid copper bars that the power supply leads and wires going to the boards are then soldered to?  Maybe I've just been staring at too many PC (computer) modding videos/builds lately, but I immediately started thinking about how to go about doing a solid run of copper "pipe" from power supply to each amp board (like a solid-tube watercooling PC loop, or even like solid pipe airline setups started with Automag RTs (as in paintball markers) back in the day.

The standard x-cherry case looks really nice - simple and clean - with the Cherry logo as shown.

Side question, considering the recent threads talking about the mega-mk2 development and the trickle-down to the STM, are the maraschino boards in the x-cherry "mk2-spec" or are they to a prior spec of the maraschino monoblocks/ILMs?  Also, any update love for the monos/ILMs like the STM just got, or is all the "mk2" goodness already there?  In particular, I was impressed by the idle power consumption and heat draw improvements - those are some pretty significant gains!

Maraschino monoblock boards are used in ILM, DTM, GCM, and x-CHerry.  There are exclusive tweaks on the GCM version, but otherwise, they differ only by the rail capacitors.

The MK2 mods from the STM won't fit on Maraschino monoblock boards, but that's ok....

Maraschino monoblock boards already provide extremely high performance, both on the bench and in the ear.  The Cherry MEGA beats Maraschino with respect to power output (more than double), but the Maraschino has slightly lower output impedance.  As far as sonics, they are very similar.

The current Maraschino monoblock design has stood the test of time, and continues to win listeners over with its sweet, clean sound!
