Tidal wont play through USB port- Windows 10
« on: 23 Feb 2020, 02:38 pm »
I cant get Tidal to play through the usb port on a Windows 10 laptop.

You tube will play no-proplem.
I can see and choose the USB/SPDIF convertor. Just can't get Tidal to play through it.
Any ideas?
Thanks

You may have go  through your bio settings on your windows 10 laptop to force audio out to the usb port
this might solve your problem..

I have my Windows 10 desktop setup to not allow things to make changes to my device and sometimes when I have an update I get a message in the notifications and then go in and allow that to happen.  There's all kinds of settings.  Not a Tiday user (already have too much music I haven't listened to).  That's why many audiophiles end up with players/streamers that don't deal with Windows 10 (e.g. Lumin/Aurender, etc.).

Try defaulting all Windows 10 audio output to the USB Audio device and see what happens.

You can try that through the sound settings in Win 10.

in Tidal settings, select "stream" and somewhere at the bottom you can select which device to output to.  It should either be "default" or whatever your usb device is.

I’m sure APA was referring to BIOS settings. Have you tried uninstalling Tidal and reinstalling it?
