Any fans here? Not a fan of dance music but I really love this stuff because it has a raw aggressive edge and very good fidelity.

 - excellent video there, just as a music video, very well made. If you haven't seen a good music video in a while.. ^^^

Just picked up the EP Bangarang and it is off the chain, as it were.

Love Skrillex!  Not the biggest fan of the Korn/Skrillex stuff though.

I think the whole Dubstep genre is the first real new form of music in the last 20 years.  Sounds that on their own you'd think have no place in music at all, but somehow all together work ... and make you just want to tear something up!

Love it!

Get the Bangarang EP, I'm on track 6 and my jaw is on the floor.

My next acquisition will be the album with the above song from the video.. if I can get my hands on it.

Good music  :thumb: It's dance music that rocks

(and yeah, not care for the Korn stuff either, but the combo makes sense, I guess)

Just ordered Bangarang, and something for the wife

Holy *** you're right, that would rule. Making me pull out my copy of With Teeth

Actually... you may disagree, but I bet Skrillex/Marylin Manson wouldn't be too bad either.  :icon_twisted:

Agree on all accounts...Turbo introduced me to skrillex a few months back.  Sick stuff...Dubstep is a very oriigional genre and you can already see it creeping into all kinds of different genres.  Can't wait to hear bangarang, great hook reference BTW.

:D

I haven't been a huge fan of the latest Skrillex stuff, but I do enjoy many of his tracks. Classic Dubstep is much much different than what you here from him, though - but he has his own edge/personality that crosses over well with modern music.

Some juicy tracks I like (One from Mortal Kombat, bonus  :thumb:):

Saw him live with Deadmau5 and he certainly makes you want to shake your ass and break stuff - in a good way.

Not dumping on your thread, but Skrillex has taken the wobble bass in dubstep a little too far.

Huh, I don't listen to dub, all I know is this ep inspires some fierce head nodding. I'm on the 6th playthrough right now, so I obviously love it. I really wanna hear someone great rap over this stuff.

it's got a very high res feel to it, this ep has a super super black background and the arrangements are fantastic. It's a very detailed, textured, emotionally engaging music, it's also fun and wild and chaotic. If he's truly making this all on his own then he's going to be around for a while. I think it is yeah, some new form of music with room to grow.

I actually preferred DrumNBass to dubstep.  I think Dubstep took quite a few of its elements from DNB.

Interesting...  I like the music; unfortunately I could not get past the "Chipmunkiness" of the vocals...  The Chipmunks are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

Check out Noisia   ...not dubstep, more modern DNB.

Check out the song Stigma...it has a more normal dubstep type drop but with a typical sporatic DNB rythym/beat.

Please recommend some classic dubstep as well.

Most older-style Dubstep should be extremely atmospheric, spacious, with subtle patterns and bass rhythms. Of course Electronic music carries over from genre to genre, but here are some of my favorites:

Burial - Archangel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlEkvbRmfrA
Burial - Raver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGkiUULeDrM
Skream - Rutten: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEmM6vVFrao
Horsepower Productions - Kingstep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS7-dHZIs1s
Horsepower Productions - Damn It: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USKbdr5PJnE
Kode9 - 9 Samurai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMaVq-_Ta-w
Benga - Middle Man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCqKJL3GX5E

These aren't the oldschool tracks, just some of my favorite Dubstep tracks. But checkout the early tracks by Horsepower Productions, Skream and Benga, as they helped define/kick-start the genre around 2008 and onward.

Never played any real electronica through my planars and I must say it's a genre they handle exceptionally well, as well as jazz, classical, vocals. Most gorgeous sounds coming from these things and it totally slams with that fast fast fast planar bass.

Thanks for the links above! I'm working at home all day so the jams be pumpin.

You're welcome!

I'm always excited to share new music on these forums. Sometimes female vocals and the "oldies" can be a drag when many people have these awesome systems that they can use to explore music through.

I'm not joking I'm on my tenth playthrough (at least) and about to head to the store to pick up a used copy of "Scary Monsters". I can deal with this stuff.

Yeah it's funny you mention that because I was listening to jazz all week and it's fun to hit fastforward in time and play some 2012...

pretty much just that one song. I think it's serving a purpose musically.

Nice list.  Skream is a must!  I like how 2008 is already considered "classic"

As for a video game themed song, I'd have to go with Zomby 1 Up over the Skrillex track. 8-bit dubstep?  Yes please.
