Earlier this year, there was rather polarizing thread entitled "What is this? An overpriced tone control?" (http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=124130.0)

The thread questioned the price point I had set for my little invention: The Delicious One. I don't want to rehash the arguments and counter-arguments (which fortunately were quite civilized), but since several AC members mentioned that they'd be interested in a lower-priced version without the fancy knob and Cardas RCAs, etc., I thought I'd give you an update.

My son is on a summer break from college and decided to build his own, less-expensive, version of The Delicious One as a summer project. Thrilled as punch that he was interested in an audio-geek project like his dad, I shared with him my circuit, parts, construction techniques and he decided to build a few of them and sell them for $249 ... which I know some of you will still consider to be too expensive but, trust me, after all is said and done (website, ordering parts, assembly, testing, emails, shipping, ...) he's probably earning less than minimum wage for his time.

Here's Jr. compared to the Signature Edition:

He set up a simple website http://alumlabs.weebly.com where you can take a look at The Delicious One Jr.

I hope I am not violating any forum rules with this post; since this is The Lab, I assumed that many of you will understand how thrilling it is for a dad to see one of his children the same interest in audio and electronics. I thought I'd help him out while, at the same time, addressing some AC members suggestions/requests for a less expensive version ... So pleeezee don't be too hard on him .
