New M-130X woofers
« on: 9 Aug 2006, 02:17 am »
Hey they finally hit the numbers that I was looking for implementing the XBL^ motor structure onto the M-130 woofer.

This will not replace the standard M-130 woofers. I will continue to use and stock the standard models.

These will be new additional models made available to the DIY market and to OEM's. Now that they are approved it can still be 2 more months before they land and I have them in stock.

They are going to air mail a couple of units over so I will post some pics and have more info on them later.

See measured response and specs.  :thumb:

Have a look at the killer samples that I got in today of the new M-130X.  :green:

See it here compared to the standard M-130.

That's the new X model on the right.  :green:

A small production run will begin shortly. I am only going to run 500 of these at a time as they are a little more expensive than the standard version. I should have them in stock in a couple of months.

Production is complete on the new M-165X and that shipment will hit the water in a few days. So I will have them soon.

See response:

Hummm, looks good.  Care to share with us what your plans are with those new toys?  Will they replace the original 130 in the AV kits?  If so, what do you expect will be the difference in sound quality, lower bass numbers I guess?  Thanks for those photos, fun to see them side by side...

They will not replace the standard M-130 in the A/V series.

I will be working on some higher end kits with them though. You will see the first kits using them offered through Raw Acoustics and using their new ribbon.

Danny,

I have a pair of Dennis's MBOW1-3way speakers. Would it be worth it to change my M-130 drivers for the new M-130X drivers when they becom available?

I don't think that you'll be able to do a drop in replacement without some network changes. It does work ideally in the same sized box though.

Hi Danny,

Do you know when the new M-130X will be available?  Also, what are you planning to do with this new driver?

Kind regards,
Eric

Danny,

RAW has the M-130X for sale as of now.  When will you?  The RAW kit is tempting but I have my own plans for the driver.  Do you have a design ready for customers that will be released in your site?

Eric K.

The woofers are not here yet. They are on the water. When they arrive then Al's kit using them will be made available and can be ordered through Raw Acoustics.

I have made no other designs using it as of yet.

hi Danny,

you said above that the new 130x isn't a drop in for the av3's. What about the OB7? Raw said in their forum that the 130x could be a drop in for the RA8.

It should be a drop in for the two upper and two lower woofers on the OB-7 as well.

good to know, Whats the xmax, and can they tune a little lower than the regular 130's. I would try to get them as full range as possible.
