mPod is for an iPhone or iPod Touch
mPad is for an iPad

Yes, music purchased from iTunes can be synced to the BDP.  If by some change you have iTunes music purchased before they dropped the DRM, you can either upgrade it or look into the new iCloud features to re-download it as a 256kbps file.

What are the differences/benefits of Mpad vs. Mpod?
I wasn't able to find a useful example or explantion when I did a search.
I'll try whichever you recommend, but would like to understand the difference.
This site has been very informative in preparing for my BDP-1's arrival. Thank you all.

MpoD is formatted for the iPhone and iTouch.  MPaD is formatted to take advantage of the larger iPad screen.  If you are going to use the iPad go with MPaD.

Thanks

It's my wife's library, thousands of song tracks probably 80% with DRM.  The iCloud option may be the best bet.  I guess it's time to upgrade the OS.

How do you like the sound of the BDP-1 with the 840C input?
I will use the BDP-1 with a ARC LS17, Bryston 4B SST2 and Magnepan 1.7's.
I'm pretty happy with the current sound, but if pressed, would say the
system tends a bit toward the bright side at times. I am considering the Rega DAC also.
I also ordered the Bryston digital cable to run out of the BNC output. Any suggestions
or opinions on other DAC options and digital cables would be helpful.

More similar than I thought. I am using Maggie 3.7s now but had 1.7s for over a year. The DAC in the 840CD is very good IMO. I don't think it was bright but my other electronics differed from yours (AVA AvaStar pre and AVA 600R amp). Very smooth and natural. More so with the 3.7s. I was considering another Cambridge DAC but the BDA-1 fits the bill with the multiple inputs and makes a great partner to the BDP-1.

I just bit the bullet and ordered a new BDA-1 to go with my BDP-1. Though I have to say, the 2-3 week wait for both units is driving me nuts. I really prefer to be able to walk into my dealer, hear something and walk out the same day with them, but with the market the way it is, no one seems to inventory anything anymore. Now I need to sell my Cambridge 840C, but at least I have music between now and the new units arrival. Any ideas for making the time pass more quickly?

I just got my BDP-1 yesterday and also want to be able to utilize my extensive iTunes library.  I've loaded Minion onto my mac.  Now I want to copy my iTunes library to a a hard drive to use in the BDP-1.  Two questions:

1. Can someone tell me how to copy my complete iTunes library to a hard drive?
2..How does Minion use my iTunes library?

With the BDP-1, I think that the increasing demand is exceeding production capacity.

Hi,

1. I am not a MAC  guy but I just selected all in my library and copied to my USB drive.  The problem I had was with Album Art.  Maybe othewr can be more helpful.

2. Minion works in Firefox only.

I used iTunes on a PC, so I don't know about Minion.  But I just copied my iTunes music files (aqt the folder level) to an external HDD and it worked fine.  The artwork (if it is "standard iTunes artwork) will not work, so I didn't copy it.

Hope that helps

Just curious, do the serial numbers start at 000001?  If so that would mean there are 560 people out there that were quicker to understand how great the BDP-1 is than I was  :thumb:

After browsing a few other audio sites, I think that the back-order number it likely to double.  For example, the BDP-1 is getting a lot of attention on the "Ultra Hi-End" at AVS.

Hi - yes we started at number 1 -  ... it is quite interesting though how things have changed since I was ridiculed initially by so many in the press (especially the British reviewers) and on forums.  The opening comment from a lot of people was "james what is this and who really cares"

It proves though that performance really does matter because if the BDP-1 was just another way to play digital files it would never have gotten off the ground.  Early adopters recognized it's quality audio playback and the credit really goes to them for the BDP-1's success.

How many BDP-1's are you able to produce weekly?

They are hand built so it fluctuates between 15-20.

After dreaming of getting a reasonably good audio system for a long time, I decided to save for it.  My budget coming into this audio journey this year was $5k.

After reading a lot here and elsewhere, got myself an integrated EE M88, EE minimax dac plus, and a pair of custom-made GR speaker - right at my budget limit.

Now, okay, y'all are about to convince me to drop my old pioneer cd player and order this BDP-1 as well... another $2.2k

I started the recent chatter at AVS and gave a fairly lengthy description of how I'm using it. There are a growing number of people in that forum with really nice systems that are now very happy BDP-1 owners. I would like to move the discussion to the Ultra High End Digital Players forum on AVS but based on what's there, I don't think it will get the same attention. Then again, not everyone would look in a Theta Digital thread for a great sounding 2 channel music player.
