Subwoofer ?
« on: 21 Oct 2011, 08:43 pm »
I currently have two of Dannys SW-12B/PR subs run off of one A300 Rhythmik Audio amp.

What type of upgrade would it be going with say the SW-12-08?

I was in the same position... had 2 of the "Classic" GR subs and converted over to the newer servo designs when they came out. The servo subs are a completely different type of bass. Really fast and tight -- I really like them for music. Here's a thread that has more details on this.

New A370PEQ amps are still on back order and won't be here until the first of Dec. You'll need one amp and one SW-12-04 woofer. The quality of the bass, resolution and detail levels of the servo subs are in a completely different league.

So the A370PEQ has to be used with the SW-12-08 I can't use the A300?

The SW-12-08's have been phased out. I only came out with the 8 ohm version so that two woofers could be used with one amp. A new amp will be built with two amplification channels to accomplish this in the future.

I think Brian has a few A300 amps in stock that the servo system can be added to.

So the 08 can be run off of one amp but if you want dual setup like I have now I would have to go with 2(04) subs and 2 amps?

I was seeing if there was a way I could resuse my current amp with dual subs..

No, the new plate amps will be different. Think of it as a single plate amp, but with two amplification channels. One for each woofer. And I think the amps will be modular. So you can add a woofer and add an amp module. One set of controls though. That way you don't have to buy two separate and complete plate amps.

Is that Brian from Rythmik? Do you know what he is selling these for? I have a small listening/home theatre room that I would love to put a Rythmik servo sub in.

Yep, that's the same Brian. I don't think he has listed them for sale yet though. He has no amps for them yet.

Would the 8" subs be compatible with the A370PEQ amp?

So is there anyway to drop a 12-04 in my current box and seal the back piece up where the PR is?
This box is 1.2 cubic foot sealed box? It is 18" * 18" * 18" with 4 braces inside it I want to say.

On the Rythmik audio site is says - GR SW12-4 (for 1.6 to 1.8 cu ft sealed enclosure)

So long as it is well sealed then it should work fine.

What am I losing with the 1.2 vs 1.6 cubic feet for those subs?

You are making the amp work a little harder to maintain that linearity.

So did Brian ever release these amps?

I still never upgraded but recently I have been debating again. Right now I am just trying to price some things together.

I am still looking at the SW-12-04 Sub but was looking at some other options as well in the 15" range.

Brian has not yet gotten these new amp produced.

If you are looking for the best quality and resolution then our 12" woofers are the way to go. If you are just looking for home theater applications and want as much output from a single woofer as possible then you might want to consider their 15's.

I also have one pair left of the SW-12-08 (8 ohm woofers) that will allow two woofers to be used with a single amp. First person to buy them gets them.

Danny could the SW-12-08 be run off of my current A300 amp? or do you have to use the A370-PEQ<

So with SW-12-08 -

1) Is there an advantage to running each sub off of its own amp?

2) What is the difference between using my a300 and running both vs. running them both off of a A370-PEQ?
