I use a VPI Classic with three arm tubes, Valhalla junction box, Lyra Kleos, Shelter 501 II, guest cartridges, SDS controller, peripheral ring, Herron VTPH-2 with various load resistors or infinite loading, Nordost Tyr tonearm cable, Furutech DeStat II and Stillpoints resonance control. Sublime!

Very nice job thunder.  When the local market allows me to sell my townhouse I will move into a single family home with a better listening room.  You have a beautiful example, I even like the gray walls (best choice if video is incorporated too).

As for the OP wondering about vinyl, I have roughly 300 CDs and 3,000 LPs if that answers the question.

This was a converted 2-car garage and the floor was a wreck.  FIVE days just to jackhammer it out, then lower it, level it, put down insulation, rebar, conduit, you name it.  Still haven't rebuilt the steps into the kitchen.

When you gentlemen say "sporting", just how difficult is that ET II arm to set up?
I was looking at getting an identical twin to Thunderbrick's but chickened out at the last minute.
While I think of it, Magnepan made an arm which pops up for sale every so often.  Does anyone have any experience with that one?

I got to listen to some vinyl this evening; the wife purchased a copy of the Cats musical soundtrack.  Oh, lucky me, it's a double album which means four sides of the Cats musical soundtrack. 
Only now do I realize that if I had played it at 45 RPM it would have gone by a lot faster and been more entertaining.

I just told the Mrs. that if she buys the soundtrack to Rent I'm filing for divorce on the grounds of cruel and unusual punishment.
You can't imagine what it was like dating that girl. 
Not only did I see the movie, Rent (Rotten Tomato Award winner in my book) but I actually sat through most of (gah!) Dream Girls which was the longest movie ever made.  I think that it lasted all of Memorial Day Weekend.
Uh oh, they probably released a Dream Girls soundtrack.  Woof.
Best not to mention the subject.

While I've heard/read many good things about the ET arms, I don't understand how they can work well on any suspended turntable.  I've owned both a SOTA and an Oracle, both tables I've seen used many times with ET arms.  But both of those tables were sensitive to level balance (particularly the Oracle) so I never understood how any arm with so much moving mass could function properly without upsetting the balance of the platter/suspension?

Hope this is not wandering too far OT for a planar site.

I didn't have a linear arm on my SOTA, but years ago I had a TD-125 Mk II with a Rabco SL8-E and I don't remember the motion of the arm having any discernible effect on the balance of the turntable.

Planars and Cd,s will this also be ok, it's not that i don't like vinyl it's just that i can't stand SURFACE noise and sorry that's part of vinyl.
