 Tom,
My understanding is that it has drivers for Mac OSX and there Windows XP and Windows 7.

I also just read from one of the RMAF update threads that the DAC is battery powered?

. . . if I was in the market to change up/out to hi-rez, I think Eric at db would be getting another pile of my money. . . :)

Any details on the Dodd gear?  Word from Danny about how Seaton's X-series cabinets worked out?  Any other rooms with any other GR-Research toys?

Thanks to folks for all the updates.  I really wish I could have made it work to get out there this year. . .

i thought the room sounded great. some of the best accoustic i have heard.
It was definitely one of the warmer and friendly places to hang.

I was really hoping to see a prototype of the X-Otica.

No prototype yet, but here are the new drivers and wave guide that will be used in the X-Otica! :thumb:

Wow.  That mid driver looks very high-end.

. . . and the little servo driver looks cute as a button. . .  :green:  Again, big thanks to Danny for going forward on that one - I think it is going to make A LOT of people very happy.

Can the 8" servo be used in a sealed application?  Or just OB?

Can we see some data on them?

Yeah, the 8" for OB is something I'm very curious about.

Word from Danny about how Seaton's X-series cabinets worked out?

I believe Danny did find a moment to see the cabinets I helped WW Speaker Cabinets work up for their table on the main floor.  I know HAL had also stopped by and he and I talked about working up an X-LS cabinet as well.  For the X-LS I'll change the assembly slightly to see if we can push the cost a little lower, especially for those who might just want the bare MDF cabinets.  With the huge stock of kits Danny has on hand there is plenty of room for many options from many suppliers.  The options I can make available through WW Speaker Cabinets will be precision cut, ready to load, with an array of finishes available for shipment within 2 weeks of order for most any quantity.  Ordering information should be up on the web in the next week or two with more models added later.

The new drivers and tweeters looked quite promising and very well built.  It will be interesting to see exactly how the new parts take shape in new kit designs.

I did stop by the booth with Mark's cabinets and the rosebud finish was really nice on the X-CS speaker cabinet!  A pair of X-LS in that finish would look excellent!   :thumb:

Glad to see one of my favorite mini-monitors might make a comeback for DIYers!

Just woke up this morning after driving non-stop for 19hrs. :(

I-70 was hammered with snow so we had to take I-25 down to Albuquerque then I-40 to RC.
It's a very long drive.

The show was really great.

It was good to finally meet Dave of PI Audio Group and I really love his sense of humor.
It's also good to meet up with Danny, Gary, LarryB, Rich, Chris, & Ruben.

Danny,
Let's move forward with what we talked about.

Gary,
I want to see you at next year LSAF and YOU'D better be there. :)

LarryB,
Let's catch up sometime.

Rich,
It's great to see you again.
Sorry I forgot the $ during the craziness of the show.
I called and asked Chris to take care of it for me since I only have hiss address.
Sorry again Sir.

Chris,
As usual, I can't hardly wait to visit your room.  Soon, I hope.

Ruben,
It's good also to finally meet you.
I hope you'll move forward with my suggestions.

Overall, it's an excellent show. :thumb:

Kudos on the great sound quality show reports.  I read on another thread that the acoustical room treatments GR Research employed helped tremendously.  I see a matrix of black dowels / pipes / or??? in this back ground.  Does anyone have more information on what was utilized here?

Thanks,
Kenreau

Just a couple of low rez pictures from the room.

Thought the overall sound was very good. Extensive acoustical treatment was in place. Saw Danny as well Gary Dodd in the room.

Hope to get in there before the end of the show and spend a little more time.

Thanks HAL, great to catch up again.

I handed the kit and cabinet to my employee here, Mike, who handles all of our own assembly.  While the regulars here can certainly figure out how it all goes together, Mike & I were talking about sorting out all the wiring and mounting along with some pictures to make a super easy, solderless assembly version for those who want to suggest these for friends and not have to walk them through it.  It will all be available piecemeal so only those who want the simple option will order it, and those who want to and prefer soldering can go it on their own.  Should make it a bit more accessible to those who might stumble across this and not be an avid DIYer.

Thanks, TrungT.  Apparently the Pi website is down for renovations.
